Join the American Diabetes Association in our third annual Walking Challenge at the 77th Scientific Sessions in San Diego!

The Challenge has been graciously supported by AstraZeneca to encourage attendees to “walk the walk” and engage in some friendly competition.  The ADA Walking Challenge will begin on Friday June 9, 2017 at noon PDT and end Monday June 12, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. PDT

The ADA Walking Challenge Mobile App also supports attendees that prefer to use their own FitBit, Jawbone or iPhone/Android smart phone step counters (2)

The first 1,200 registrants will receive a free ADA Bluetooth activity tracker to use with the ADA Walking Challenge Mobile App (1)

To participate:

1) Download the ADA 77th Scientific Session Walking Challenge app in the Apple App or Google Play Stores

> Click here to download the app from the Google Play Store

2) Complete the in-app registration process

> Non-case sensitive activation code is:  az1135       

> If you have previously participated in an ADA Challenge you can use your previous login information.  Once logged-in you will need to update your activation code for this year's Challenge:

       -  Click the menu button on the top right corner of the app dashboard

       -  Select 'Account Settings' and scroll to the bottom of the page

       -  Click 'Attend a New Event'

       -  Enter the new activation code listed above

3) Stop by the Walking Challenge booth in the Sails Pavilion on the Upper Level to pick up your free ADA Bluetooth Activity Tracker

In honor of our 77th anniversary, we challenge all participants to exceed 77,000 steps over the three and a 1/2 day Walking Challenge. After the event, the American Diabetes Association Walking Challenge app and Activity Tracker will be yours to keep so you can continue to track your steps and demonstrate your commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle.

Use the Walking Challenge mobile app to scan the QR code booster at the AstraZeneca booth 1135 to earn your bonus steps:

  • First Day Visit - 1000 steps

  • Second Day Visit - 2000 steps

  • Third Day Visit - 3000 steps.

To qualify for the Walking Challenge you must be a registered participant in The ADA 77th Scientific Sessions. Trackers will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis during Session registration hours starting on 6/9/17 at the Walking Challenge Booth located in the Sails Pavilion. Limit of one tracker per registrant.

The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 9.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 4.3 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer. Users may also use their own FitBit, Jawbone or iPhone/Android smart phone step counters.
