Join the American Diabetes Association in a Walking Challenge at the 76th Scientific Sessions in New Orleans!

The Challenge has been graciously supported by AstraZeneca to encourage attendees to “walk the walk” and engage in some friendly competition.

The ADA Walking Challenge Mobile App also supports attendees that prefer to use their own FitBit, Jawbone or iPhone/Android smart phone step counters (2)

The first 1,200 registrants will receive a free ADA wireless activity tracker to use with the ADA Walking Challenge Mobile App (1)

To pre-register and receive further updates about the Walking Challenge, please enter your email address in the field below and click submit. You will receive an email with further instructions on downloading the ADA Walking Challenge app from the iTunes or Google Play Store.

In honor of our 76th anniversary, we challenge all participants to exceed 76,000 steps over the three and a 1/2 day Walking Challenge (3). After the event, the American Diabetes Association Walking Challenge app and Activity Tracker will be yours to keep so you can continue to track your steps and demonstrate your commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle.

Use the Walking Challenge mobile app to scan the QR code booster each day of the exhibits to earn your bonus steps. The more you visit, the more you receive; 

  • First Day Visit - 1000 steps

  • Second Day Visit - 2000 steps

  • Third Day Visit - 3000 steps.

Scan the QR codes at the AstraZeneca (Booth 339) or Wellness Lives Here area to get your daily step boost and to enter to win daily give-aways consisting of Stop Diabetes store merchandise and a 'Walking Challenge in a Box' to inspire your patients to get out and walk (4).

To qualify for the Walking Challenge you must be a registered participant in The ADA 76th Scientific Sessions (sorry, no exhibitors). Trackers will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis during Session registration hours starting on 6/10/16 at the Walking Challenge Booth. Limit of one tracker per registrant.

The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 8.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 4.3 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer. Users may also use their own FitBit, Jawbone or iPhone/Android smart phone step counters.
