Join the ACEP Walking Challenge in San Diego,
October 1- 3, 2018! 
Participate in some friendly competition amongst your peers as you work your way up the leaderboard and try to exceed the Challenge Step Goals to win prizes!
The Challenge will start on October 1 at 5 am PT and end on October 3 at 4 pm PT.  Participants can track their steps using their own personal Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, or the step trackers integrated on your iPhone/Android smartphone via Apple Health or Google Fit(i)

1) Download the Heka Walk Challenge app:


  • Click here to download the app from the Apple App Store

  • Click Here to download the app from the Google Play Store


2) Complete the in-app registration and pairing process:


  • Launch the Challenge app and select "ACEP"  from the list of Walking Challenges

  • Complete the registration page

  • Pair your supported step tracker (see the Challenge FAQ Webpage for details)


3) Start Walking!


  • To sync your step data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the dashboard.   

  • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your step tracker. 

  • Please sync your step data at least one time a day as some data sources will not provide step data that is over 24 hours old


The Virtual Bar uses the latest science to help you not only get a better understanding of how different factors affect your blood-alcohol concentration – or BAC – on an individual level, but also can help you see how your night could go depending on the food you eat, the water you drink throughout the night, and other important variables. It also helps give you a sense of how long it would take for your BAC to return to 0.00, which we think will surprise you.

Scan the FOUR (4) QR Codes located throughout the Conference hall each day and receive bonus steps each day to support your Challenge efforts (ii)
4 Booster Locations:
  • booth (at the Walking Challenge table) = 500 Steps

  • Wellness Booth = 250 Steps

  • Registration Booth = 250 Steps

  • Daily Yoga in "Sails" area = 250 Steps

Prizes and Step Levels
  • First 15 Walking Challenge participants who walk 30K steps will win wellness gifts
  • Challenge participants who walk 40K steps or more are entered into a drawing to win one of ten wellness gifts
  • Challenge participants who walk 50K steps or more are entered into a drawing to win a special wellness gift

(i) The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 9.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 5.0 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer.


(ii) To scan:  select the 'Scan-In' button located on the main dashboard of the Challenge app and then the 'Capture QR Code' link on the scan-in app page.  Simply align the scan-in camera viewer with the QR code and it will be automatically detected and provide you with the results page .
