Join the West Chicago Move with the Mayor Wellness Challenge! 
Participate in the 2021 Move with the Mayor Virtual Challenge in West Chicago and join in the fun virtual physical activity events available to all throughout the year! 
If you have already participated in the Move with the Mayor Challenge during previous months, you can use your existing login credentials but you first need to install the new app and complete the new user profile as listed below. If you are a new user, please follow the instructions below on how to participate.

While heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., it is often preventable. Being physically active is one of the easiest ways to lower one’s chances of heart disease and its risk factors, like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. That is why Healthy West Chicago and the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention is working with West Chicago to host the Move with the Mayor Challenge, a World Heart Day-inspired campaign that asks citizens to take steps to improve their health by walking and being physically active throughout the year.

 Please  select your Healthy West Chicago    Team within the app to compete against other teams!


To participate:

1) Download the latest "Heka Well" Challenge app. (Note that the app has a new name!):

  • Participants continuing from the prior Challenge may have received the latest app update automatically.

2) Open/Start the Challenge app

  • New users: Select "Healthy West Chicago" from the challenge list

  • Continuing users: On the Login screen tap Switch, then select "Healthy West Chicago" from the list. Login with your current email and password (skip to step 4)

3) Register (new users only)

  • Create an account. Enter email, name and password.

  • Submit and login

4) User Profile (all users)​

  • Choose a Nick Name. (Continuing users may re-use their previous Nick Name.)

  • Choose your Team. Compete with other Teams based on average step counts. The top 3-5 teams will display on the Healthy West Chicago Team Leaderboard within the app.

  • Choose a Measurement System: Imperial (feet, inches, miles) or Metric (centimeters, kilograms, kilometers)

  • Enter your Height and Weight (optional). Check your BMI value in the app during the Challenge months. ***

5) Pair your activity tracker

  • Heka Well integrates step data from Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, your own iOS or Android smart device via Apple Health and Google Fit, and custom-branded Heka Health trackers) *

  • To pair your custom branded activity tracker, please refer to the Custom Tracker Instructions
  • Please refer to the Challenge FAQ Webpage for additional instructions and information​

​6) Start Walking!

  • To sync your step data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the dashboard​  

    • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your step tracker
    • Please make sure you are actively logged into the Challenge app and SYNC YOUR STEP DATA FREQUENTLY, AT LEAST ONE TIME PER DAY, and before the Challenge end time to make sure all your steps count!

Engage in fun Wellness activities to help you achieve your goals. Join any of the activities announced each month on the Healthy West Chicago Webpageand scan the QR codes displayed at the different locations using the Challenge App to receive bonus steps.

Scan-In: Following each activity a QR code will be displayed. Once the Challenge has started, just press the 'Bonus Activities' selector ** in the Heka Well Challenge app and select Scan-In. Scan the code and automatically receive bonus steps

* Apps are supported on iPhones & iPads with the three most recent major iOS versions (e.g., iOS 13, 12, 11) and on Android phones with the four most recent major Android OS versions (e.g., Android 10, 9, 8, 7) that have not been customized by the manufacturer.

** Bonus Activities:

  1. On the Challenge app's main dashboard, tap the Bonus Activities selector.

  2. Press the Scan-In button and follow the app instruction to receive your bonus steps.
