Join the IACP Walking Challenge 2018.
With a focus on officer safety and wellness initiatives, this Challenge is just one way to get involved at the 125th annual IACP conference and exposition in Orlando Oct. 6 - 9, 2018.
The Walking Challenge is sponsored by Guidehouse and encourages attendees to engage in healthy activities, some friendly competition, and win prizes.

 
The Challenge starts at 7:30 a.m. EDT on Saturday, October 6, 2018 and ends at 4:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

TO JOIN:

1) Download the IACP Walking Challenge app:

  • Click here to download the app from the Apple App Store

  • Click here to download the app from the Google Play Store

2) Complete the in-app registration and pairing process:

  • Launch the Challenge app and complete the registration fields

  • Pair your supported step tracker (see the Challenge FAQ Webpage for details)

3) Start Walking!

  • To sync your step data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the dashboard. Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your step tracker. 

FREE Bluetooth activity trackers will be given to the first 250 registrants that stop by IACP Central in West A/B Lobby on Level 1 on Friday, October 5 starting at 1:00 p.m.
 
Walking Challenge participants can also track their steps using their own personal Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, or the built-in step trackers integrated on supported iOS and Android smart devices via Apple Health and Google Fit(i)

  • Each QR code can only be scanned once for up to five chances to win per day

  • To Scan:

    1. Open the “IACP Walking Challenge” app​

    2. Select the ‘Scan-In’ link located on the Walking Challenge dashboard in the app

    3. Select ‘Capture QR Code’ (you will need to allow the app access to your device’s camera)

    4. Align the app viewer with the QR code

    5. The code will automatically be detected and provide you with a confirmation page

Winners will be notified by email each day.  Prizes can be picked up at IACP Central located in the West A/B Lobby, Level 1 by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9. 

 

NEED SOME EXTRA STEPS TO MOVE UP THE LEADERBOARD?

  • Sign up and run the 5K on Sunday morning, October 7 hosted by the Orlando Police Department.

  • Walk the expo hall Sunday through Tuesday and meet with exhibitors and sponsors.

  • Walk to and from the convention center from nearby conference hotels.

  • Visit all of the attractions offered at Chiefs Night at Universal Studios FloridaTM on Monday evening, October 8.

  • Visit the various restaurants and shops along I-Drive near the convention center after the sessions end daily.

(i) The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 9.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 4.5 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer.
