Join the IACP 2019 Walking Challenge!
With a focus on officer safety and wellness initiatives, this Challenge is just one way to get involved at the 126th annual IACP conference and exposition in Chicago, Illinois Oct. 26 - 29, 2019.
The Walking Challenge is sponsored by Guidehouse and encourages attendees to engage in healthy activities, some friendly competition, and win prizes.

 
The Challenge starts at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, October 26 and ends at 4:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Participants can track their steps using their own personal Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, or the step trackers integrated on their iPhone/Android smartphone via Apple Health or Google Fit. (i)

To join:
1) Download the 'IACP Walking Challenge' App:

2) Launch the App and complete the registration and pairing process:
  • Complete the registration fields and pair your supported step tracker (see the Challenge FAQ Webpage for details)
3) Start Walking!
  • To sync your step data to the app, select 'Tap to sync steps' at the top of the dashboard
  • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your step tracker
  • Please sync your step data at least one time per 24 hour period and before the Challenge end time to make sure all your steps count!

TOP 5 OVERALL STEPPERS PRIZES

  • Top 5 winners will receive a complimentary full-conference registration to IACP 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana October 17-20, 2020. 

  • Top 5 winners must be qualified attendees over the age of 18. (ii)

90K STEP GOAL ACHIEVER PRIZES

  • Take 90,000 or more total steps and stop by IACP Central (level 3 in the Central Concourse) to pick up your prize, courtesy of Guidehouse, the Walking Challenge sponsor. While supplies last.

  • All IACP 2019 Walking Challenge participants are eligible for this prize.

  • The first five (5) individuals to reach 90,000 steps will win a second prize in addition to the 90,000 step prize.

 

DAILY SCAN IN PRIZES

  • All participants registered in the Walking Challenge are eligible for daily prize drawings. Participants can earn additional entries to win a prize from Guidehouse by scanning the five (5) daily Walking Challenge QR codes throughout the convention center at the following locations: (iii)

* All winners will be notified via email and may pick up their prize at IACP Central on level 3 in the Central Concourse.  If you wish to meet with a Guidehouse representative and thank them for their support of the IACP 2019 Walking Challenge, please stop by between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday.  Please note that all Daily Scan In and 90K Step Goal Achiever prizes must be picked up before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29.

 

NEED SOME EXTRA STEPS TO MOVE UP THE LEADERBOARD?

  • Sign up and run the 5K on Saturday morning, October 26, hosted by the Chicago Police Department.

  • Walk the expo hall Sunday through Tuesday to meet with exhibitors and sponsors.

  • Walk to and from the convention center from nearby conference hotels.

  • Explore all of the attractions at the Museum of Science and Industry at Chiefs Night on Monday evening, October 28.

  • Visit the various restaurants and shops near the convention center after the sessions end daily.

 

(i) The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 9.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 5.0 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer.

(ii) Registration types that are qualified to win the "Top 5 Overall Steppers Prizes" include Host Department, IACP Member, First Timer, Non-Member, Two Day Pass, Speaker, One Day Pass, Student Member. Registration types that are not elibible for this prize type include Exhibitors, Sponsors, Children (under 18), Press Retailer Pass, IACP Contractors, IACP Staff, Spouse/Family Guest.

(iii)To scan QR codes:

  1. Open the 'IACP Walking Challenge' app

  2. Press the Scan-In button located on the Walking Challenge dashboard in the app. Note that you will need to allow the app access to your device's camera 

  3. Align the app viewer with the QR Code and the code will automatically be detected and confirmed
