Join the Quest for Steps Challenge at the 71st AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in Anaheim
Participate in some friendly competition amongst your peers as you work your way up the leaderboard and try to exceed the Challenge Step Goals to win prizes!


The Steps Challenge starts on Tuesday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m PT and ends on Thursday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Participants can track their steps using their own personal Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, or the step trackers integrated on their iPhone/Android smartphone via Apple Health or Google Fit. (i)

To join:
1) Download the Heka Walk app:

2) Complete the in-app registration and pairing process:
  • Launch the Challenge app and select the "Quest for Steps" from the list of Challenges
  • Complete the registration fields and pair your supported step tracker (see the Challenge FAQ Webpage for details)
3) Start Walking!
  • To sync your step data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the dashboard
  • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your step tracker
  • Please sync your step data at least one time per 24 hour period and before the Challenge end time to make sure all your steps count!

To help reach your Challenge Goals, scan the QR code sign using the Challenge App at the Quest Diagnostics Booth #1632 in the Clinical Lab Expo for 1000 bonus steps each of the three days the Expo is open. (ii)



  • The first 50 participants that reach 15K steps and then stop by the Challenge table will win an AACC branded insulated stainless steel water bottle (the Challenge table will be near registration on Tuesday August 6 and then will be in the Clinical Lab Expo booth #1632a across from the Quest Diagnostics booth on Wednesday and Thursday)

  • All participants that reach 30K steps will be entered into a drawing for a $200 Amazon Gift Card


  • The final top 10 steppers on the leaderboard will be entered into a drawing for an Apple Watch


Prizes will be awarded at the Challenge table (booth #1632a) across from the Quest Diagnostic booth in the Clinical Lab Expo on Thursday August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PT.

(i) The Walking Challenge app requires iOS 9.0 and above on the following devices:  iPhone 4S and above, iPad Air, Mini, and 3rd & 4th generation iPads. Android requirements: Android 5.0 and above that have not been customized by the phone-tablet manufacturer.

(ii) To scan QR codes:

  1. Open the Challenge app

  2. Press the Scan-In button located on the Walking Challenge dashboard in the app. Note that you will need to allow the app access to your device's camera 

  3. Align the app viewer with the QR Code and the code will automatically be detected and confirmed
