Join the Summer 2022 APHA Keep It Moving Challenge 
June 21 – Sept. 5, 2022
The Challenge encourages you to participate in some friendly competition with your peers as you get moving, keep moving and climb the Challenge Leaderboard

The APHA Keep It Moving Challenge officially kicks off on Tuesday, June 21 at 12:01 am EDT and ends on Monday, September 5 at 11:59 pm ET

 

TO JOIN

1) Download the latest v8.1 APHA Keep It Moving Challenge app:

2) Launch the app and set up your Challenge account:​

  • Complete the in-app registration process​

    • Participants from the previous Keep It Moving Challenge may log in with their existing account credentials. On the Register screen "Tap here if you already have an account"

  • Complete the User Profile.

    • Join a Team if you wish, or choose "No Team".

    • We have teams for each APHA Section, along with custom teams sponsored by individuals or groups. (Requests to create teams will be accepted until June 17 5:00 p.m. EDT.​)

  • Pair your step tracker

    • Track steps on your smartphone* by pairing with Apple Health on iOS or Google Fit on Android (make sure the Apple Health or Google Fit app is activated on your phone before pairing).

    • The Challenge app also tracks step data from FitbitGarminApple Watch.

3) Start Moving!

  • To sync your activity data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the Summary screen

  • Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your activity tracker

  • Remember to sync your step data at least once every 24 hours and before the Challenge ends to make sure all your steps count!

 

 

BONUS ACTIVITIES

 

To support your Challenge goals, scan QR codes at various locations for step bonuses and log fitness activities other than walking for step equivalent credit. Once the Challenge has started, press the Bonus Activities** selector in the Keep It Moving Challenge app and choose:

 

Scan-In Using the in-app viewer, scan-in QRs at the following locations:

  • About APHALocate the QR on the About APHA page and scan-in for a 1,000-step bonus up to 11 times, or an average of once per week, during the Challenge

  • Challenge Email: Look for the QR code in up to five emails sent to participants during the Challenge and scan-in for a 2,500-step boost​.
     

  • APHA Events & Meetings: Scan-in the QR code on the APHA Events page and earn 1,000-step bonus up to 11 times, or an average of once per week, during the Challenge.

  • APHA Courses: Scan-in the QR code on the APHA Courses page for a 1,000-step bonus up to 11 times, or an average of once per week, during the Challenge.

Activity Log

 

Work your way up the Challenge Leaderboard by engaging in various fitness activities in addition to or walking. Activities range from gardening to stretching, cycling to swimming, and aerobics to using a manual wheelchair.  Look up the activity in the Challenge app and log the time you spent doing the activity to receive the equivalent steps.

INCENTIVES & PRIZES
 
More prizes during the Summer 2022 Keep It Moving Challenge: There will be incentives and prizes at the halfway mark and conclusion of the Challenge. See below for details. Steps may be accumulated by walking, logging other fitness activities, or scanning in for boosts (See above).

 

Step Level Goals

"Halfway There" Step Level Goals

 

All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by July 31, 2022, a little more than halfway through the Challenge, will be entered into random drawings for prizes. You will be entered into the drawing only for the highest Step Level you reach.

Level 1:  200,000+ steps (avg. 5K steps/day): APHA tote, 10 winners

Level 2:  300,000+ steps (avg. 7.5K steps/day): APHA tote, 10 winners

Level 3:  400,000+ steps (avg. 10K steps/day): APHA tote + assorted APHA swag pack, 10 winners

Final Step Level Goals

All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by the end of the Challenge on September 5, 2022, will be entered into random drawings for prizes. You will be entered into the drawing only for the highest Step Level you reach.

Level 1:  400,000+ steps (avg. 5K steps/day): APHA T-Shirt, 10 winners

​Level 2:  600,000+ steps (avg. 7.5K steps/day): APHA T-Shirt, 10 winners

​Level 3:  800,000+ steps (avg. 10K steps/day): APHA T-Shirt + assorted APHA swag pack, 10 winners

 

CHALLENGE LEADERBOARD

The leaderboard below (also viewable in the app) rotates among the top 25 steppers and top 5 teams ranked by the average number of steps per team member.  The leaderboard is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes once the Challenge has started.

**  Bonus Activities
