Join the APHA Keep It Moving Challenge in the months leading up to National Public Health Week April 4-10, 2022
Keep It Moving Challenge Dates: January 1 - April 10, 2022
The Challenge encourages attendees to participate in some friendly competition with your peers as you get moving, keep moving and climb the Challenge Leaderboard
The APHA Keep It Moving Challenge officially kicks off on New Year's Day Saturday, January 1 at 12:01 am ET and ends on Sunday, April 10 at 11:59 pm ET. Attendees may use their own Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin or the movement trackers integrated on their iPhone/Android smartphone via Apple Health or Google Fit.*
1) Download and launch the APHA Keep It Moving Challenge app:
2) Set up your Challenge account
Complete the in-app registration process
Select a Nickname, Team, and Country flag
Pair your step tracker now!
Anyone can track their steps using their smartphone* by pairing with Apple Health on iOS or Google Fit on Android. (You must have the Apple Health or Google Fit app installed on your phone and tracking your steps before pairing.)
Heka Well also imports step data from Fitbit, Garmin and Apple Watch.
Note: Your steps will only be credited in the Challenge after you first pair your tracker.
3) Start stepping!
To sync your step data from your tracker to the Challenge app select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the Summary screen.
Sync your step data frequently, at least once daily. Some step trackers do not transfer step data that is over 24 hours old.
To support your Challenge goals, scan QR codes at various locations for step bonuses and log fitness activities other than walking for step equivalent credit. Once the Challenge has started, press the Bonus Activities** selector in the Keep It Moving app and choose:
Scan-In Using the in-app viewer, scan-in QRs at the following locations:
APHA Membership: Locate the QR at the APHA Member Perks page here and scan-in for a one-time 2,500-step bonus.
Challenge Email: Scan-in the QR code in up to five emails which will be sent to participants during the Challenge for a 2,500-step boost.
Toolkit: Scan-in the QR code on the Toolkit page on the virtual platform between March 15 and April 10 only for a daily 500-step bonus.
NPHW Challenge: Scan-in the QR code up to three times during National Public Health Week April 4-10 for a 1000-step boost.
You can do more than walk to work your way up the Challenge Leaderboard! Engage in various other fitness activities ranging from gardening to stretching, cycling to swimming, and aerobics to rowing. Look up the activity in the Challenge app and log the time you spent doing the activity to receive the equivalent steps.
INCENTIVES & PRIZES
Steps may be accumulated by walking, scanning in for boosts or logging fitness activities (See above).
Step Level Goals
All participants who reach the following Step Levels will be entered into random drawings for prizes. You will be entered into the drawing only for the highest Step Level you reach.
Level 1: 500,000+ steps (avg. 5K steps/day): NPHW Tote Bag, 50 winners
Level 2: 750,000+ steps (avg. 7.5K steps/day): NPHW Resistance Bands, set of three, 25 winners
Level 3: 1,000,000+ steps (avg. 10K steps/day): NPHW Tote + NPHW Resistance Bands, 25 winners
The Leaderboard below (also viewable in the app) rotates among the Top 25 steppers, and then the Top 5 teams ranked by average number of steps per team member. The Leaderboard is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes once the Challenge has started.
