Join the APHA Keep It Moving Winter 2023 Challenge in the months leading up to National Public Health Week
The Challenge kicks off on Sunday, January 1 at 12:01 a.m. ET and ends on Sunday, April 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Come join in some friendly competition with your peers as you keep moving and climb up the Challenge Leaderboard.
2) Launch the app and set up your Challenge account:
Complete the in-app registration process
Participants from the previous Keep It Moving Challenge may log in with their existing account credentials. On the Register screen "Tap here if you already have an account".
Complete the User Profile
Create your own Team, join an existing Team, or choose "No Team".
Compete against other Teams based on average steps. View the Team rankings along with the rankings of your teammates in the Team Leaderboard.
Pair your step tracker
3) Start Moving!
To sync your activity data to the app, select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the Summary screen
Note that your steps will only count from the time you first pair your activity tracker
Remember to sync your step data at least once every 24 hours and before the Challenge ends to make sure all your steps count!
To support your Challenge goals, scan QR codes at various locations for step bonuses and log fitness activities other than walking for step equivalent credit. Once the Challenge has started, press the Bonus Activities** selector in the Keep It Moving Challenge app and choose:
Scan-In Using the in-app viewer, scan the QR codes at the following locations:
NPHW.org: Locate the QR code on the NPHW.org page and scan-in weekly (i.e., up to 14 times) for a 1,000-step bonus during the Challenge.
Keep It Moving: Locate the QR code on the Keep It Moving page and scan-in weekly (i.e., up to 14 times) for a 1,000-step bonus during the Challenge.
Challenge Email: Look for the QR code in the 3 update emails sent to participants during the Challenge and scan-in for a 1,000-step bonus.
Activity Log: Work your way up the Challenge Leaderboard by engaging in your various fitness activities. Activities range from gardening to stretching, cycling to swimming, and aerobics to using a manual wheelchair. Select the activity log bonus activity in the Challenge app and log the time you spent doing the activity to receive the equivalent steps (limit of 3 entries per day).
Refer a Friend: Using the in-app Refer a friend module, reach out to your friends and ask them to join you in the healthy fun and the Keep it Moving Challenge. You will earn 500 bonus steps per email sent up to 20 friends. Note, if you refer friends prior to the Challenge start date, the 500 bonus steps will still count toward your cumulative Challenge steps (i.e., they will be credited toward the Challenge even if the Challenge hasn't started yet!)
"Halfway There" Step Prizes
All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by February 19, 2023, halfway through the Challenge, will be entered into random drawings for prizes. You will be entered into the drawing only for the highest Step Level you reach.
Level 1: 200,000+ steps: NPHW duffel bag, 10 winners
Level 2: 300,000+ steps: NPHW duffel bag, 10 winners
Level 3: 400,000+ steps: NPHW duffel bag, 10 winners + a NPHW prize pack
Final Step Prizes
All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by the end of the Challenge on April 9, 2023, will be entered into random drawings for prizes. You will be entered into the drawing only for the highest Step Level you reach.
Level 1: 400,000+ steps: NPHW sport belt bag, 10 winners
Level 2: 600,000+ steps: NPHW sport belt bag, 10 winners
Level 3: 800,000+ steps: NPHW sport belt bag + a NPHW prize pack, 10 winners
The winning Team and members will be eligible for prizes by the end of the Challenge on April 9, 2023.
The leaderboard rotates among the top 25 steppers and then displays the top 5 teams (based on average number of steps per team members). You can also view the Chapter Leaderboard in the app with Team rankings and individual rankings of the members within your Team.
The leaderboard is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes once the Challenge has started.
