Participate in a range of wellness activities and enjoy some healthy competition with your public health community. Earn chances to win prizes for reaching Challenge Goals as you work your way up the leaderboard.

 

In addition to competing as an individual, you can form a team and compete against other teams based on average points. Can your team keep up with the APHA Staff Team? As further motivation, you can also see how you stack up against your teammates on the Team Leaderboard


The Challenge starts on Thursday, January 1 at 12:01 a.m. ET and ends on Sunday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

BONUS ACTIVITIES

Bonus

Engage in various wellness bonus activities and earn bonus points. Once the Challenge has started, just press the Bonus Activities** selector in the Challenge app and participate in any of the activities listed below:

Refer a Friend: Using the in-app Refer a friend module, reach out to your friends and ask them to join you in the healthy fun and the Keep it Moving Challenge. You will earn 500 bonus points per email sent up to 20 friends. Note, if you refer friends prior to the Challenge start date, the 500 bonus steps will still count toward your cumulative Challenge steps (i.e., they will be credited toward the Challenge even if the Challenge hasn't started yet!)

ChatUse the in-app Chat module to interact with other Challenge participants and share how you are living well. You will earn 500 bonus points (limit of two bonus grants per day) for sharing healthy stories and photos.

Sound Healing:Sound healing utilizes sound frequencies and vibrations, like those from singing bowls, to induce relaxation, promote healing, and enhance well-being. So, find a quiet space away from external stimuli and follow along with the in-app video. You will receive 1,000 bonus points per day at the end of each session.

Gentle Yoga: Follow along with the in-app yoga video session and you will receive 1,000 bonus points per day at the end of each session.

DonateAPHA and the Affiliate Team appreciate everyone who enjoys taking part in the annual Keep It Moving Challenge. In order to help keep the Challenge moving in future years, please consider a small donation to “keep ‘Keep It Moving’ along". Just use the in-app Donate bonus activity button to link to the APHA donation page.  You will also automatically receive a one-time grant of 2,500 bonus points for your consideration.

Featured Video: Watch any of the featured APHA videos per the schedule below and you will receive a one-time grant of 1,000 bonus points per video.

Scan-In: Use the in-app module to scan the QR codes at the locations listed below. Note for the weekly scans you must wait at least 5 days between scans at the same location.

  • APHA Membership: Locate the QR code on APHA Membership webpage and scan-in weekly (i.e., up to 14 times) for 1,000 bonus points for each scan during the Challenge. ​​

  • APHA Annual Meeting: Locate the QR code on the APHA Annual Meeting webpage and scan-in weekly (i.e., up to 14 times) for 1,000 bonus points for each scan during the Challenge.

  • APHA Policy Action Institute: Look for the QR code on the APHA Policy Action Institute webpage and scan-in weekly (i.e., up to 14 times) for 1,000 bonus points for each scan during the Challenge.

  • NPHW: Look for the QR code on the main NPHW webpage and scan-in weekly starting on March 1, 2026 (i.e., up to 7 times) for 1,000 bonus points for each scan during the Challenge.

Activity LogEngage in various other fitness activities ranging from gardening to stretching, cycling to swimming, and more. Look up the activity in the Challenge app and log the time you spent doing the activity to receive the equivalent points.  Limit of two (2) one-hour activity entries per day.

"Halfway There" Step Prizes

All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by February 18, 2026, halfway through the Challenge, will be entered into random drawings for prizes. 

Level 1:  200,000+ points: Tumbler bottle with straw, 10 winners

​Level 2:  300,000+ points: Tumbler bottle with straw, 10 winners

​Level 3:  400,000+ points: Tumbler bottle with straw + prize pack, 10 winners

Final Step Prizes

All participants who reach the following cumulative Step Levels by the end of the Challenge on April 12, 2026, will be entered into random drawings for prizes.

Level 1:  400,000+ points: Rechargeable hand fan, 10 winners

​Level 2:  600,000+ points: Rechargeable hand fan, 10 winners

​Level 3:  800,000+ points: Rechargeable hand fan + Tumbler bottle with straw, 10 winners

Team Prizes

The winning Team and members will be eligible for prizes by the end of the Challenge on April 12, 2026.

NEW PRIZES FOR THE FINAL MONTH OF THE CHALLENGE!

Starting March 12th at 12:01 am ET until the end of the Challenge (APRIL 12th at 11:59 pm ET) earn prizes for reaching the goals outlined below:

1) All participants who achieve 1+ points during the final month will receive a free annual family subscription to DinnerTime (no credit card entry required). 3) All participants who achieve 50,000+ points during the final period, will receive 30-days free access to The Mindfulness App (credit card entry required). Additionally, you will receive a code for 50% off of their subscription service if you want to continue your access and/or provide it to members of your community. The Mindfulness App has over 500 guided meditations, immersive sleep stories, themed courses on stress, focus, sleep and resilience, and nature soundscapes, as well as personalized reminders with streak tracking. These can all be accessed via an iOS or Android app or directly on the web in 12 different languages.

4) All participants who achieve 500,000+ points during the final period, will receive a 1-year free access to The Mindfulness App (no credit card entry required). Additionally, you will receive a code for 50% off of their subscription service if you want to continue your access and/or provide it to members of your community.
